A LETTER FROM PASTOR ZACH
Church family,
I cannot recall the first time I attended Walnut, but I do know this: the body of
believers at Walnut has been a constant throughout my thirty years of life. I
carry special memories from Awana, the kids’ choir, youth ministry, and
young adult ministry. It was here at Walnut that I would eventually meet my
wife, Melissa—and now, years later, our twin boys run through the halls of this
same church. Needless to say, God has used—and continues to use—Walnut
Memorial as an instrument of His love and mercy in my life.
I did not set out to become a pastor at a young age. But as godly men be-
gan to pour into my life during college and beyond, I knew I wanted to do
the same for others. When I first entered into discipleship, I was a mess. I did-
n’t have my life together, and I was not spiritually mature. Yet God’s mercy
and grace were displayed through the hearts, words, and actions of those
who discipled me. I want others to experience discipleship in the way I did—it
is a true glimpse of God’s love for us. When godly discipleship takes place, it
feels as though God Himself is sitting across the table from you, eager to
draw near. That is my story, and I want it to be yours.
As I step into the role of Discipleship Pastor, I do so with great excitement,
anticipation, and praise to God. I ask for your prayers as I take on this new
responsibility. I also ask for prayers for my family, as this transition affects all of
us. Lastly, I ask for your prayers for the body of believers at Walnut—that we
would continue to remain faithful to God and boldly proclaim the gospel.
In Christ,
Pastor Zach
